Smartphones are the most important business tool for young entrepreneurs

A recent survey has found that young entrepreneurs believe that their smartphone is one of the most important tools when running their own business.

The research from Xero found that more than half (52%) of the 500 young entrepreneurs surveyed believe that their smartphone is more important to their business growth than a laptop or car.

Only 27% of respondents said that a desktop PC was the most important business tool for them.

This research perhaps highlights the rise in both flexible working and working on the go. Being available at all times through a smartphone will certainly ensure that work opportunities are less likely to be missed and any issues with clients can be resolved quickly.

Another 32% of those surveyed also said that social media was a vital tool to running a business, something that is also easily managed through a smartphone.

The new generation of entrepreneurs are incredibly switched on when it comes to technology, especially remote working.  They want the ability to access all files and documents, speak to customers and associates and run an enterprise from anywhere. Accessibility is going to be a really key development in the future of business.

Johnny Luk, CEO at The National Association of College and University Entrepreneurs (NACUE), added, “Technology, including smart phones, is radically changing the way business works, and students are leading the way in adopting new trends and methods to make business happen- not just in communications, but in marketing, content creation, planning and even coding.

“The growth of apps offers users more mobility and flexibility, making the smart phone the ideal tool for young entrepreneurs.”
